COUPLED THERMO-STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF THE LAMINATOR ASSEMBLY

Introduction:

This laminator machine assembly uses heat with applied pressure to laminate the composite lamina, and need to do coupled thermo-structural analysis for given loads to evaluate thermal stresses and strains .

THERMO-STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS

Challenges:

Coupled thermo structural analysis considering heat radiation loads and self weight of the large machine assembly was a challenging task.

Scope of Work:

The Thermal stress analysis was performed on the laminator Assembly. A sequentially coupled thermal-stress analysis was performed. The geometry considered for the analysis was shown above. The results were presented as Stress and displacement plots. The following is the load case considered for the analysis

: Thermal analysis of Heating platen.

Engineering Solution:

After performing the analysis on the specified load cases, the factor of safety achieved was above 2
