NON-LINEAR STATIC ANALYSIS OF DICD-120 RIG ASSEMBLY

NON-LINEAR STATIC ANALYSIS OF DICD-120 RIG ASSEMBLY

Introduction:

A drilling rig is a machine which creates holes in the earth sub-surface. Drilling rigs can be massive structures housing equipment used to drill water wells, oil wells, or natural gas extraction wells.

Challenges:

Weight optimization of entire heavy weight structure for pulling and drilling loads considering ropes using non-linear static structural analysis in tilted and vertical conditions.

Scope of Work:

The static analysis is performed on the DICD -120 RIG Assembly. The results are presented as Stress and displacement plots. The RIG assembly is subjected to following load cases in Vertical condition and Inclined condition individually. The following are the load cases considered for the analysis.1) Pulling load of 20Tonnes on Pulley assembly ( 10Tonnes on Each side ), 2) Drilling load of 10Tonnes on Gear box assembly, 3) Frequency Analysis, 4) Buckling analysis

Engineering Solution:

We have decreased the weight of the structure by 14%
