Introduction:
EA POD is an electronic enclosure used for defense applications, this is a electronic signal jammer assembly which jams the radar and different signals between any band widths of the frequency. This assembly needs to be optimistically designed for structural and thermal loads.
Challenges:
Representing the physics of the complete assembly with many components was the challenging task. Optimizing all the structural components of the assembly considering the dynamic loads and sine-on-random loads. Many iterations were performed to achieve the desired factor of safety.
Scope of Work:
Structural analysis and the linear dynamic analysis with base excitation are performed on the Electronic enclosure assembly (2m length)in three Global axes directions individually. The response of the structure is checked for each case. The enclosure assembly is made of aluminum, and bolts are made of steel. The following are the load cases considered for the analysis.
Case1: Acceleration analysis in Fore end, Aft end, Lat(L), Lat(R), Up cases, Case2: Shock 20g, 11ms in three Global axes directions individually, Case3: Sine on Random response analysis in three Global axes directions, Case4: Harmonic response analysis in three Global axes directions.
Engineering Solution:
The maximum stress after removing the spurious elements is 109.51MPa in guides and all the components in the assembly were well safe.
