Introduction:

This specimen is nickel paint coating made up of three layers each of three different grain sizes. We need to test the material strength by doing virtual tensile testing.

Challenges:

Elasto-plastic material with Vonmises hardening and associated plastic flow. The true stress-strain curve was taken from experimental data.

Scope of Work:

The tensile test specimen was analyzed for four different case studies. case1: tensile test on a specimen with 21nm grain size nickel material, case2: tensile test on a specimen with 42nm grain size nickel material, case3: tensile test on a specimen with 195nm grain size nickel material, case4: tensile test on specimen bonded with the above three cases of nickel material.

Engineering Solution:

After doing virtual testing, the results were matched with practical tests with a 6% difference.
